About the Book

Author Charles E. King delves into the scholastic lives of Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, calling on its student body to look into themselves and see what they’re missing.

Having been a substitute teacher at the school, Mr. King has observed a lack of ambition on the part of the students and a lack of effort on the part of the teachers. This proves a fatal combination because it results in the young men ending up with menial jobs and the young women, unmarried with a baby to care for—instead of a corporate ladder to climb.

To drive his point home, Mr. King narrates his own life story—from his family’s humble beginnings in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and its remarkable public school that allowed the author access to an education that became beneficial to his career later in life. For this, Charles E. King is grateful.

Through his book, Thank You Jesus for Johnstown, Pennsylvania! , he passes on the legacy of obtaining a good education and solid values in life. The author quotes, “At least, teach the children how to read.”
